Check Your Real Estate Listing Publications

One of the best places to look for investment properties is in a foreclosure real estate listing. Foreclosures are properties that are being held by a bank or other lending institution after being seized from a delinquent buyer. Since the lending institution does not want to hold on to the property for long and are looking to get back their money, they will often sell these properties for much cheaper than you could find elsewhere.

Another idea is to look in “for sale” listings. Although most of these homes are not run-down, you may be able to find one that is inexpensive due to its size that you can add on to and resell for a substantial profit. You may also want to check your real estate listing publications for multi-family properties that need some work done which you can rent out or sell to a property management company. Depending on the amount of work needed, if the property is currently in an unlivable condition, you may be able to get it at an outstanding price.
